If you care about the health of America or the environment you have to watch this video (see below). And if you are talking to undecided voters in swing states, the issues brought up by John Robbins, President of the Food Revolution may convince quite a few.
The first half of the video talks about Hillary (up to minute 17:45), not 100% support but relatively positive. After that John talks about Trump and his stances on these issues and the team he has put together to address them.
As you know I’m no Hillary fan but, just like Bernie, the concept of Trump with the nuclear codes is a no no for me. And other things too, including The Wall, mass deportations, tax breaks for the 1%, etc. I had the disgust of meeting him once back in the 90s and I can’t believe how far this megalomaniac narcissist has gone.
If Trump wins I may join Ruth Bader Ginsburg in New Zealand.
Some snippets;
Hillary Clinton’s Democratic platform emphatically promises to protect the SNAP program, and also pledges to expand SNAP recipients’ access to fresh food. This is needed because fresh fruits and vegetables are often not affordable for those who depend on the SNAP program. And it can be accomplished by expanding the pilot programs that have successfully doubled the value of SNAP benefits when people use them to buy local fruits and vegetables.
Donald Trump’s 2016 Republican platform, on the other hand, calls for breaking the SNAP program away from the USDA and the farm bill. As an independent entity, SNAP would be more vulnerable to budget cuts. For the Republican party, this is consistent. The party has for some years now persistently sought to reduce the SNAP program.
The New York Times reports that Donald Trump is hoping to become America’s first fast food President. He has, on more than one occasion, posed with burgers and fried chicken from fast food chains on his private plane.
And what about the man Donald Trump has picked to be Chairman of his Agricultural Advisory Committee — Charles Herbster? Charles Herbster is a Nebraska agribusiness tycoon who owns a cattle-breeding company, as well as another company that sells pesticides and chemical fertilizers. He‘s also a major funder and steering committee member of Ag America, whose other major funders include Monsanto and DuPont. Serving on Ag America’s steering committee, along with Charles Herbster, is another man who might play a major role in a Donald Trump administration: Todd Staples.
Todd Staples is a former Texas Agriculture Commissioner who resigned in the middle of his term to become president of the Texas Oil and Gas Association. He resigned in protest after a “Meatless Monday” policy was adopted in a few Texas schools. But first, Staples wrote a searing editorial that implied that the goal of the Meatless Monday initiative is to force all American children to be vegetarians. He called the very suggestion that people eat less meat “treasonous.”
