The Big Lie: “All Trump Wanted Was For Ukraine To Announce An Investigation.”

My very very well connected Ukraine source, that I trust, just gave me this different and new perspective on the whole Ukraine situation and I believe we should all understand it.

The Big Lie: “All Trump Wanted Was For Ukraine To Announce An Investigation.”

The allegation of Trump’s allegedly wanting Guiliani , Parnaz, Lysenko and the rest of his smarmy Brighton Beach Crowd to get Ukrainian President Zelensky “only to announce an investigation” is an absurd Big Lie.  Unfortunately, it appears to have worked.  It has worked because the Democrats still cannot bring themselves to believe that a US President and his minions would sink to the lowest of slime ball tactics to con their marks – the People of the United States.  The Ukrainians, on the other hand, having had a few centuries of experience with Russian predatory behavior, figured out rather quickly what would have happened next if they had made such an announcement.

Zelensky looks at Trump skeptically

Let’s assume for a moment that Zelensky had given in to Trump’s extortion and announced an investigation.  Let’s even assume that Trump would have released the military aid he was holding hostage.  What would have happened next?  Trump’s next step would have been to demand to know what the investigation found.  It would have been a natural, reasonable and generally expected follow-up.

If Zelensky announced an investigation and did not do it, he would have lost credibility with everyone, at home and in the USA, thus weakening his presidency at a crucial time in the war to stop the Russian invasion, Zelensky’s meeting with Putin, and Ukraine’s legitimate struggles to end centuries of Russian corruption imposed on Ukraine by Moscow.  (Read Gogol’s Dead Souls for what it was like in 1842!)

A new fiscal year was coming in 2020 and Trump would have had ample opportunity to accuse Zelensky of corruption for not going through with the investigation.  Trump could then hold up the 2020 military and civilian aid to Ukraine.  Let’s assume Ukraine at this point would have gone forth with an investigation.  What would have happened next?  By then the US would be in the heat of the 2020 presidential campaign with Joe Biden still the most likely Democratic candidate.  Trump would have done everything and anything to use Ukraine as a bludgeon against Biden.

Using similar extortion, or perhaps even existential threats, Trump could have then tried to force Ukraine to custom tailor “evidence” to meet his demands.  If Zelensky refused, Trump could have privately signaled Putin that the US would not, for example, get into a tangle with Russia if Russia pushed its Army into the heart of Ukraine or closed off the Black Sea to Ukrainian shipping.

Giuliani is already suspected of spending considerable funds seeking such bespoke “evidence” in Ukraine without success.  Since people who custom tailor “evidence” are even less trustworthy than Trump or Giuliani, it would have been a question only of time before Trump would be blackmailing Zelensky and Ukraine on that count as well.

Trump’s demands were a loan shark’s sucker bait and thank goodness Zelensky and Ukrainians did not fall for it.  Serving Trump’s hardcore criminal demands would have been, ultimately, the end for Ukraine as an independent democracy, much to Trump’s callous indifference and Putin’s rapturous delight.

This has all the trappings of a classic KGB gambit.  It is entirely possible this whole shtick was a play by Putin to break longstanding support in the US Congress for a democratic and independent Ukraine.  It could have paved the way for a Russian military takeover of Ukraine, thus fulfilling Putin’s lifelong dream and primary goal of Russia’s foreign policy since the collapse of the USSR and Ukrainian independence in 1991.

Putin is already throwing rewards to Trump, like the Russian Military Intelligence hacking attack on Burisma, thus laying the ground work for lots of bespoke “evidence” being tailored and released in the next months as Putin puts the Kremlin’s Re-elect Trump Campaign into full swing.  And, this time Trump doesn’t even have to ask for it on TV!

Do Not Forget that vulnerabilities remain in US election machinery in key swing states that have not replaced hackable electronic voting machines with those that have paper backup.  Russian Military Intelligence has been “probing” these systems non-stop and nationwide since 2016 in preparation for a full fledged assault on Election Day 2020.  Putin and Trump believe they can once again jig enough counts in key swing states to give Trump a victory in the Electoral College and Let the Will of the American People be Damned!

Donald Trump should be removed from office on the charges the Democrats are afraid to say -- TREASON.

Putin plays chess and he is looking several moves ahead.  So the impulsive Trump may be just a pawn on his board.  Trump is doing what Putin wants him to do as part of a game of chess.  And Putin’s immediate target is Ukraine. He already has more than he ever bargained for in the US.
